We keep a small flock of milking goats at the farm, mainly British Toggenbergs. Goats can be milked for two years after having had kids so we run a system of kidding two goats on each alternate year. This provides us with a consistent supply of milk for members use and also for cheese making. Any billy kids that are born are raised for meat whereas the girl kids are either kept or sold on as milking goats.
Our members get goats’ cheese in their veg bags, usually either a soft cheese, a more mature hard cheese or occasionally some feta.
