We have a small flock of Whitefaced Woodland sheep at the farm with 10 ewes, 2 rams and a number of lambs. This year we have learnt many new skills as we get to grips with being shepherds. Members have helped with lambing, spraying and injecting the sheep as well as hand shearing – a skill which will need a bit more practice to master! We have collected our fleeces and are looking forward to learning more skills such as spinning, felting and weaving during the dark winter evenings. The sheep spend some of the time out at other grazing in the village but we also keep a few at the farm – they are very friendly and love a good nose-rub as you pass their gate.
